Russian authorities deprived Ingush opposition website www.ingushetiya.ru of its domain, so since yesterday it has not been accessible. However, the website moved to another domain, outside of RU zone and now it can be accessed at www.ingushetia.org
The move comes after a court in Moscow decided to close down the website earlier this year. It took the authorities several months to figure out how to close down the website. Meanwhile the owner of this resource Magomed Yevloev was arrested by police in Ingushetia 31 August 2008 and soon taken to the hospital, shot in his head. The police claimed Yevloev tried to snatch the gun from a policeman, another claim was that a policeman accidentally shot him while they were carrying him in their car.
Colleagues and friend of Mr Yevloev believe, he was brazenly murdered by the police, that did not even bother to prepare a proper cover up for their crime.
The authorities made another attempt to close down the website, but I am glad, at least in this they did not succeed.
