“This is going to be an expensive summer”- said my wise landlord, referring to the upcoming summer season and the rising energy prices. I though, that I heard of various attributes of summer, like hot, beautiful, refreshing, rainy, short, long etc., but I never realised that summer could be expensive. In fact it certainly can be expensive and I thought what a nice allusion this was, it’s like “square water” or perhaps “wooden sky” that may faintly match my landlord’s expression.
The sad and more prosaic side of this is that the toll of people in the US receiving subsidies for utilities’ payments is growing and has reached record levels in the last winter.
In any case, I hope, the summer is not going to be too expensive, at least not prohibitively expensive.
